- Description of event
Sersang was a monk of Ratoe Gonpa who participated in a protest held within the monastery premises. During the subsequent crackdown, he was accused by authorities of involvement in the burning of Chinese petrol vehicles.
Following his arrest, Sersang was reportedly subjected to severe beatings during detention. He was later imprisoned in Chushul Prison, where he served his sentence under custodial confinement. His case reflects the harsh punitive measures imposed on monastic participants in politically sensitive demonstrations during that period.
