Description of event

On March 16, 2011 the date when a Kirti Monastery monk Phuntsok committed self-immolation Public security bureau officials detained an unknown number of Tibetans in the vicinity of the monastery located near the seat of Aba (Ngaba) county. Police held one of the detainees Tsering Kyi, the mother of an infant and a toddler, until March 18 and released her. Police allegedly beat her “severely” while she was detained and cut off her hair
