Description of event

Sangye Choedon (born 1975), a nun from Theckchen Nunnery, was arrested on 25 November 1994 for involvement in a poster campaign advocating Tibetan independence. After detention in Nyemo and Gutsa detention centres, she was sentenced to four years' imprisonment in April 1995 and transferred to Drapchi Prison. She was released upon completion of her sentence.
