Description of event

At about 2:30 PM on June 6 near the county PSB office ; monks Tsewang Tashi and Gyurmey Sonam ; both around 18 years old ; began tossing leaflets into the air and shouting slogans calling for Tibetan freedom and the Dalai Lama’s long life and return to Tibet. According to a local source ; police allegedly seized the monks and beat them with what appeared to be “iron rods” before taking them to the local detention center. Belongs to Kardze Gepheling Monastery
