- Description of event
Kunchok Dhargyal was a 32-year-old monk from Rabgya Monastery and a former Tibetan exile who later returned to Tibet. He was arrested during a broader crackdown targeting monks suspected of maintaining ties with Tibetan exile communities and engaging in political activities linked to Tibetan nationalism. Chinese authorities accused him of association with exile groups, and he was subsequently sentenced to six years’ imprisonment. His case formed part of a wider pattern of repression against monks connected to Rabgya Monastery.
