- Description of event
Ngodup, a 37-year-old native of Lhasa, Tibet, traveled to India in 1987 to attend Kalachakra teachings. Following the March 1988 uprising in Lhasa, although he did not participate in the protests, he was accused of being trained by the intelligence services of the “Dalai Clique” and was arrested in 1989.
The Lhasa Intermediate People’s Court convicted him and sentenced him to 11 years’ imprisonment. During his incarceration, he was subjected to forced labour. For unspecified reasons, he was released early in 1997.
