Together with six other monks from his monastery, Dawa Dorjee removed government nameplates in Lingkha Sub-County and replaced them with posters stating, “Tibet is an independent country.” The following day, they marched to Pashoe County, where they held a demonstration calling for Tibetan independence and respect for fundamental human rights.
