Description of event

From June 13 to 28 ; 2011 ; Public security bureau officials in the seat of Ganzi (Kardze) County ; Ganzi TAP ; Sichuan province ; detained 7 nuns from a local nunnery for staging peaceful political protests. Nuns Jampa Choedron ; Shi Lhamo ; and Yangchen ; protested on June 15 ; scattering leaflets and shouting slogans. Police beat the three nuns and took them away. On July 2 the Ganzi County People's Court sentenced Jampa Choedron ; Shi Lhamo ; and Yangchen to 3 years' imprisonment on an unknown charge
