During a voting session, Bhu Anu inscribed the words “Free Tibet” on the voting slip in place of a candidate’s name. In response, Chinese authorities subjected all participants to handwriting analysis, which led to the identification of his script. He was immediately arrested and subsequently detained at the Chushur Public Security Bureau (PSB) Detention Centre, where he was subjected to torture.
