Sangye Choedon (born 1970), from Nyemo County, was a nun at Dolkar Choeten Nunnery prior to her arrest. On 15 February 1995, she and three other nuns—Dekyi Yangzom (born 1974), Thinley Dolkar (born 1974), and Tsering Choezom—staged a peaceful demonstration in the Barkhor district of Lhasa City.
Following the protest, Sangye Choedon was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment with an additional three years’ deprivation of political rights. She is serving her sentence in Drapchi Prison.
