Thupten, a businesswoman from Gonjo County, Chamdo Region, witnessed the implementation of China's birth control policy in Nyemo County in May 1997. She reported that approximately 300 Tibetan women were forcibly sterilised, while women who were around three months pregnant were allegedly subjected to forced abortions. Her testimony also described strict family planning measures, including compulsory birth permits, limits on the number and spacing of children, public denunciations, and fines imposed on couples who violated the policy, highlighting widespread coercive reproductive rights abuses against Tibetans.
