Description of event

Jigme (33), Jinpa (30), and Khedrup (45) are natives of Grasam Township, Kongpo County, while Kelsang (40) is from Tsenyi Township, Ngaba County, Sichuan Province (TAR). All four individuals are monks of Ngaba Tsenyi Monastery.

In August and November 2000, they distributed pro-independence materials in Ngaba County, including leaflets concealed within documents and inscriptions carved into wooden objects. Subsequently, all four monks were arrested by authorities and detained at the Ngaba County Detention Centre.
