- Description of event
On 10 March 1989, Lobsang Dekyong(also known as Kelsang Tsering), together with three fellow monks, was arrested at Ramoche Temple in Lhasa. All four served as caretakers of the Jowo Mikyö Dorje shrine within the temple. They were accused by the authorities of being among the principal “leaders” of, and participants in, the March 1989 demonstrations. Despite these accusations, none of the four monks was formally tried or sentenced following their detention.
