- Description of event
On 20 October, the Darlag County police arbitrarily detained eight Tibetans from Gyime Township in Darlag County, Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, on charges of "creating a criminal organisation," "picking quarrels and provoking trouble," and "extortion and blackmail." These allegations were simply levied against them for collecting donations for religious offerings. The Darlag County police issued a notice on their social media account, urging local Tibetans to actively report any clues related to the group of detainees and other "criminal organisations." They added that informants would be "highly rewarded in accordance with its relevant regulations," while warning others that withholding such information would result in severe punishment.
