Lamrimpa Ngawang Phuntsok (1922–1997) was a renowned Tibetan Buddhist master and teacher. He joined Drepung Monastery at the age of 22. Following the Chinese occupation of Tibet, he was arbitrarily arrested in 1959 without any known legal basis and detained until 1961. During his imprisonment, he was subjected to severe torture and was released in critically deteriorated health.
