- Details of Violations Faced in Detention
During his incarceration, Kyaga was subjected to severe and systematic torture, including repeated beatings with electric cattle prods, which caused lasting physical injuries and profound psychological trauma. As a result of this treatment, he suffered from permanent physical and mental health problems.
By the late 1990s, his health had deteriorated to a critical condition. He was reportedly returned to Drapchi Prison, where he continued to suffer the long-term consequences of years of torture and ill-treatment. His case raises serious concerns regarding the use of torture, denial of medical care, and the continued detention of seriously ill political prisoners.
