Tsering Samdup, born in 1973, was a monk of Gaden Choekhorling Monastery who was arrested at Gaden Monastery in 1994 for his participation in a demonstration. He was detained several days after the protest along with three other monks: Jampa Tsundue (born 1977), Bhuchung (born 1973), and Tashi Tsering (born 1968).
Jampa Tsundue was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment, while the remaining three monks received sentences ranging from five to seven years. All four served their sentences at Drapchi Prison.
